Introductory Word of Command

Before a squad is turned in any direction, the instructor indicates that direction by a word of command. The two diagrams below show how that is done.

"Squad will advance"

"Move to the left in threes"
"Move to the right in threes"

"Squad will retire"

Since it would be unpractical to give the word of command "Move to the right in threes, left turn" the following introductry words of command are used when the squad is retiring.

"Squad will advance"

"Squad will move ot the right"
"Squad will move to the left"

"Squad will retire"
