Comparative Rank Chart for the different services.
It seems many re-enactors are uncertain about the comparative
ranks for the different serivces, so here is a chart relating
to British ranks. Hopefully as time goes by it will get refined
and added to.
Please note these ranks are based on Wartime (1940's) usage and
may not be current today. For example a lance-Corporal was an
appointment during the war and was only made a substantive rank
in the early 1960's.
It is interesting to note the wartime spelling of "Serjeant"
with a "j" differs from the modern spelling with a "g".
